Terms of service

Last Updated: 1/5/2026

Terms of Service for Sobriety Sounds

Welcome to Sobriety Sounds. By accessing our website, participating in our community jams, or engaging with our programs at partner facilities, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Our Mission and Services

Sobriety Sounds is a nonprofit organization dedicated to demonstrating that substance use is NOT required to be creative. We serve as a resource for the recovery community to help restore musical ability and encourage creative development. Our current services include:

  • Mobile Outreach: Bringing musical instruments into addiction treatment centers for group jams and performing for the patients.
  • Community Events: Hosting sober community group jams and providing live music for recovery-related events.
  • Education: Facilitating music education and creative writing classes.

2. Organizational Goals

While our current operations are focused on mobile outreach and community events, Sobriety Sounds is actively working toward the long-term goal of obtaining a dedicated physical space. This space will eventually allow us to be open 60+ hours a week to further support the recovery community.

3. Code of Conduct (Sober Environment Policy)

All participants in Sobriety Sounds programs agree to:

  • Maintain a strictly sober environment during all jams, classes, and performances.
  • Treat all provided musical instruments and equipment with respect and care.
  • Foster a supportive atmosphere for creators of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced musicians.
  • Participants must also adhere to the rules and regulations of any partner facility where Sobriety Sounds events are held.

4. Participation and Eligibility

Participation in certain programs, such as receiving donated instruments or being selected for paid gigs, may be subject to specific eligibility requirements based on an individual’s engagement with our network and their personal recovery journey.

5. Limitation of Liability

Sobriety Sounds provides creative resources and community support; however, we are not a medical or clinical rehabilitation provider. Participation in our group jams or events is voluntary and at the participant's own risk. We are not responsible for personal injury or loss of personal property during community events.

6. Intellectual Property

All original content on this website, including our mission statements and "Why We Exist" documentation, is the property of Sobriety Sounds. Unauthorized use of our branding or materials is prohibited.

Sobriety Sounds is granted a limited, non-exclusive license to use the Pick Stag™ logo and brand assets for the purpose of promoting our partnership and mission-driven sales.

7. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these terms as our organization grows and eventually transitions into a permanent physical location. Your continued participation in our programs constitutes acceptance of these updates.

8. Product Fulfillment & Third-Party Partnership

Fulfillment: All "Pick Stag" branded products sold through https://www.pickstag.com are fulfilled and shipped by Pick Stag LLC. By purchasing these items, you acknowledge that your shipping information will be shared with Pick Stag LLC for the sole purpose of order delivery and customer support related to the physical product.

Liability: Pick Stag LLC is responsible for the manufacturing quality and delivery of these goods. Sobriety Sounds acts as an authorized platform for these sales to facilitate charitable contributions to our recovery programs.

Contributions: Purchases of Pick Stag products are not tax-deductible for the customer, as you are receiving a physical product of value. However, Pick Stag LLC commits to a set donation per unit to Sobriety Sounds, which is used to further our mission. Consult your tax professional for further guidance.

Common Control Disclosure: Both Sobriety Sounds and Pick Stag LLC are operated and led by Matthew Hoye. This partnership exists to create a sustainable funding model for recovery initiatives. Financial records for the nonprofit and the LLC are maintained separately to ensure full accountability.

9. Contact Information

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes shall be resolved in the jurisdiction of Rochester, NY.
